scientificflair: (Your early ending was all wrong)

001. Video.

[The 'Gear had been an interesting thing to figure out - an amusing little toy, really; while calling it a puzzle would have been giving it entirely too much credit, Descole had enjoyed himself with it for a while. The afternoon had been spent watching the others post to the network; apparently he wasn't the only one that had randomly found himself stuck here. Really, there had been at least one other that day posting to say that they had found themselves in the same predicament.

How odd.

Tonight, his own feed comes alive, focusing in on a dimly-lit room and just enough of a figure to indicate that there's a person sitting in that chair over there, though he's leaning back and the camera is situated at an angle in relation to the person, keeping his face out of view of the camera. There doesn't appear to be too many distinguishing points about the individual, as he appears to be draped in a long black cape of some sort, though toward the upper corner of the frame, there's an obvious fluffy shock of white among all the dark folds of fabric, and the edges of his sleeves are ruffled and white, pale against what's visible of his hands where they're folded against what appears to be a desk or table of some sort.

All part of the act, of course; keep the audience guessing.

When he speaks, his voice is cordial, but almost stiffly formal - not quite rehearsed, but he's clearly been thinking about what to say for some time.]

Assuming this message manages to reach anyone, if someone would do me the favor of actually obliging me and letting me know where I am, that would be appreciated - there was a red-haired woman in here earlier claiming that she was doing exactly that, but unfortunately, she didn't say anything terribly useful.

[He leans forward a bit, the slightest hint of a smirk edging into the frame above that white boa.]

And if anyone just happens to know where my swords have gone...really, if you know what's in your best interests you'll return them as quickly as possible. I can't say there won't be any hard feelings, but I'm sure we can work something out.

To an extent, yes. I have a more understandable reason for not arriving with any weapons, but it's frustrating all the same.

Well, they do say one should never judge a book by its cover... and as regards Pokémon, and especially those in the early stages of their experience, that seems to be exactly the case. I am sure that a man of science like yourself will grow to become as fascinated with them as you are with your favored disciplines. That is what happened in my case, at any rate. I am currently involved in the study of Pokémon at a professional level.

I have work to attend to back home. I need to return as quickly as possible.

[...Okay, that was a bit more somber than it needed to be, hold on.]

That doesn't mean I won't enjoy my time here, however.

[That's better!]

[Good! Moving on, then!]

Of course. I believe you mentioned you received two Pokémon? What are they?

[Look, a wild subject change appeared!]

Hey, sorry to say but you're in Johto now. It's some kind of crazy other world that we've all been dragged to. It's unfortunate, but not the worst of places.

Ah...and sorry to say, but most of our possessions are taken upon arrival--including any and all weaponry. [ He gives a shrug and apologetic smile. ]
puzzling: (Hm...let's think this through)

[ wow, rude, Descole. Even if Layton doesn't really like you, he's trying to at least figure things out together. STOP BEING A DICK ]

[ But Layton doesn't seem to be quite too surprised by this response. ]
I will explain our situation here in exchange if you answer my question. It will benefit us both.
tumbled: (Out of windows too)

[ video ] It's fine! RL always comes first.

Not really. I would assume whatever's bringing us is utilizing some kind of space-time anomaly, but I haven't seen much evidence to prove that aside from our being here.
tumbled: (Fell in your opinion)

There's plenty more. The most obvious being that people you know aren't always from the same point in time as yourself. For instance, a good friend of mine is from nearly twenty years in the future--A fact easily validated by his age.

There are also a number of people I've spoken to that claim to have been another species entirely before arrival--That would be easily enough dismissed if it weren't for others validating or having similar experiences to theirs. In addition, many people claim to come from countries and cities that I've never even hear of before.

Gather all the data together, and the only possible conclusion is some shift in space-time.

Don't expect to find any replacements either!

Funny, I thought elders were someone you're supposed to respect.

[Luke folds his arms and glares. YEAH TAKE THAT DESCOLE.

This is not one of Luke's more mature moments.]

[ Hm, he does remember that. However... ]

Of course, but that event has occurred over three years ago for me. [ When you include the year and half that he has been here, that's about four or five years. He's not the 34 year old man from Descole's time, he's turning 40 this year. It's a large gap. ] This land has a tendency to grab everyone from different timelines and different worlds. I don't expect you to believe me, but you will find out yourself soon enough when you speak to others.
